For the past 15 years, the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) has worked closely with the Facility Operations Managers Association (FOMA) in the development and delivery of professional development opportunities. FOMA’s mission is to advance the field of play and safety standards within the National Hockey League (NHL), through continuing education programs, and the transfer of knowledge for our members.
FOMA has recently endorsed the creation of the Professional Ice Maker (PIM) professional designation that until now has only been available to NHL and NHL-affiliated building staff. Moving forward, FOMA, in partnership with the ORFA, is opening the PIM training course to ORFA Certified Ice Technicians (CIT) as a CIT recertification option, and possible gateway to one day working in a professional ice arena environment: More Information
Who Can/Should Attend: Attendance is automatically open to any staff currently working in an NHL or NHL-affiliated building. These individuals can strive toward receiving the PIM designation as issued by FOMA. Any ORFA CIT in good-standing wishing to recertify, or interested in applying to an NHL or large venue facility, would benefit from this professional development event.
Note: The PIM professional designation is only awarded by FOMA upon completion of set time working in an NHL or NHL-affiliated facility. ORFA CITs who complete this course will receive a certificate of successful completion and recertification as a CIT.
