The Association has six membership categories:
Any organization or group such as, but not limited to: municipalities, boards, government agencies, educational institutions, involved in the management or operation of recreation facilities may be granted a Group membership for their recreation facilities that are contained within municipal boundaries. Only (2) two representatives as designated by the Group member and whose names are forwarded in writing to the office of the Association shall be entitled to voting privileges and may hold Executive office.
Any person employed on a regular basis and working in a recreation facility operation may be granted an Individual Membership. Such a member is entitled to voting privileges and may hold Executive office.
Any business or professional actively engaged in a business relating to recreation facilities may be granted an Associate membership. One (1) representative as designated by the Associate members and whose name is forwarded in writing to the office of th e Association shall be entitled to voting privileges. An Associate member may only hold the office of Corporate Director.
Students in recreation and leisure
facilities programs may be granted
a Student membership. Such a member
carries no voting privileges and may
not hold Executive office.
Life members of the Association may
be appointed by unanimous vote of the
Board of Directors in appreciation
of outstanding contributions made to
the success of the Association. Such
a membership shall be entitled to voting
privileges, but may not hold Executive
office.
An ORFA membership entitles you to:
- A professional membership certificate, card and decal for your individual use or in the case of the
Group membership category, each building and all identified employees who work in these buildings
will be recognized;
- A subscription to Facility Forum, the official magazine of the ORFA, published four times per year
and mailed to each member or in the case of Group membership category, the identified primary
facility contact;
- Access to facility resource material managed by a professional librarian who will provide search requests at no cost;
- One complimentary copy of the Membership and Products/Services Directory containing building
name, contact person, mailing address, phone and fax number as well detailed company descriptions;
- Opportunities to attend the Annual Professional Development Program and regional training events
at reduced rates;
- Work towards an ORFA professional designation;
- A subscription to the “E-News” bulletin which provides recreation facility industry and Association
information;
- Access to Corporate Members who provide recreation facility products and services;
- Access to an online Job Board;
A committed Board of Directors and association staff dedicated to meeting member needs.
