Membership
Categories
The Association has six membership
categories:

Any organization or group such as, but not
limited to: municipalities, boards, government agencies, educational
institutions, involved in the management or operation of recreation facilities
may be granted a Group membership for their recreation facilities that are
contained within municipal boundaries. Only (2) two representatives as
designated by the Group member and whose names are forwarded in writing to the
office of the Association shall be entitled to voting privileges and may hold
Executive office.

Any
person employed on a regular basis and working in a recreation facility
operation may be granted an Individual Membership. Such a member is entitled to
voting privileges and may hold Executive office.

Any business or
professional actively engaged in a business relating to recreation facilities
may be granted an Associate membership. One (1) representative as designated by
the Associate members and whose name is forwarded in writing to the office of th
e Association shall be entitled to voting privileges. An Associate member may
only hold the office of Corporate Director.
Student Click here for Application Form
Students in recreation and leisure facilities programs
may be granted a Student membership. Such a member carries no voting privileges
and may not hold Executive office.
Life
Life members of the Association may be appointed
by unanimous vote of the Board of Directors in appreciation of outstanding
contributions made to the success of the Association. Such a membership shall be
entitled to voting privileges, but may not hold Executive office.
Sabbatical
In
the event a person leaves his/her place of employment and wishes to keep their
membership current, they may make application for a Sabbatical membership. This
membership may be granted for the balance of the current year providing the
person is actively seeking re-employment in the field and may be granted for one
additional year.

Benefits of Group Membership
The Ontario Recreation Facilities
Association Inc. is pleased to offer the following services to Group members:
- Professional membership certificate(s) for display in your
facility, building decal and membership identification cards to all individuals
who work in these facilities;
- A subscription to "Facility Forum", the official magazine
of the O.R.F.A., published six times per year and mailed to each identified
primary facility contact;
- Access to Facility Resource material managed by a
professional Librarian who will provide search requests at no cost;
- One complimentary Membership Directory containing building
name, contact person, mailing address, and phone and fax number;
- Opportunities to attend Zone and Regional Information
Workshops;
- Reduced rates to a quality, week-long Annual Training
Program which provides professional development and networking opportunities for
all recreation facility personnel;
- Further professional development and networking
opportunities at Regional Training locations scheduled as needs are identified
throughout the year;
- An opportunity to participate in a "Registration Program"
which recognizes various competencies for recreation facility
practitioners;
- A subscription to the "Facility Facts" newsletter which
provides each member with up-to-date relevant information pertaining to the
operation of recreation facilities;
- Direct access to Corporate Members who provide products and
services for recreation practitioners;
- Opportunity to participate in a Job Search Program that
assists in awareness and promotion of job opportunities;
- A knowledgeable, hard working Executive team and staff
anxious to meet the needs of the membership.
Benefits of Corporate Membership The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association
Inc. is pleased to offer the following services to Corporate Members:
- Professional membership certificate, decal and
identification cards;
- First opportunity to advertise in the Association's trade
publication, Facility Forum, at rates lower than non-members;
- Exhibit/Display opportunities are available to all Zone and
Regional Information Sessions, the Annual Training and Development Program, and
other special events which may be held through the year;
- Two complimentary copies of the Association's Membership
Directory containing building name, contact person, mailing address, and phone
and fax number;
- The opportunity to contribute educational articles for
publication in Facility Forum at no charge;

Facility Forum offers a "Product Update" section in
each issue to allow Corporate members the opportunity to promote new products
and services, at no extra charge;
- Direct input into the decision making process of the
Association through the position of Associate Director (an elected
representative);
- Mailing labels for all O.R.F.A. members are available at
discounted rates;
- The opportunity to place inserts into Facility Forum
are available for advertising purposes;
- The opportunity to submit product/service related resource
material to the O.R.F.A. Facilities Library for practitioner inquiries;
- knowledgeable, hard working Executive team and staff,
anxious to meet the needs of membership.
