Avoid wearing loose clothing or jewelry. Otherwise make sure they’re out of the way. (Source: Network News March 2006 CSAO) Arenas: Checking Propane Tanks Safely: Running out of propane during the resurfacing process can cause ice damage as well as user inconvenience! Best practice suggests that ice resurfacer drivers disconnect the safety strap and manually lift the tank to determine by its weight how much propane remains in each tank. Now there is a simpler method to accurately determine how much fuel is left in each tank. Fill a “small container” with hot floodwater and pour a “small” amount of this hot water down the side each tank. Once complete, feeling the tank with a bare hand will indicate a cool sensation exactly where the fuel level is!
Refrigeration: Replace Inefficient Equipment : The purchase of new, more efficient equipment as part of major or minor renovation projects, such as a lower horsepower, higher capacity condenser, or high efficiency lighting fixtures will significantly lower operating costs. While these initiatives may involve significant initial expense and the services of qualified technicians to install, their payback period is less than five years. (Source: Basic Refrigeration.
