Kraft Hockeyville – Your Vote Counts!

LUCAN, Mar.21, 2018 - The field has been narrowed down to four Canadian communities still in the running to be crowned Kraft Hockeyville for 2018. High River, Alta., Lafleche, Sask., Lucan, Ont., and Huntingdon, Que., were named as this year’s finalists during Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.  The winner, which will be determined by a vote, will be announced by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman during the first intermission of the second game on Hockey Night in Canada on March 31. The winning community will host an NHL pre-season game and will receive $250,000 in arena upgrades. The three runners-up will receive $25,000 in arena upgrades.

Please join the ORFA in supporting the Township of Lucan Biddulph in their quest to be the winning community.  The funds would go towards a greatly needed arena renovation. Lucan Biddulph currently facilitates an arena that was built in 1976 and is in great need of renovations. The arena is a vital hub to the community, and they want to allow everyone to be able to partake in events at this location. The money would go towards accessibility renovations, user experience renovations, such as sound system, time clock, and seating. Like many of the recreation facilities in Ontario, they have great user groups such as Lucan Minor Hockey, Lucan Irish Jr C team, and the Lucan Skating club that occupy the rink during the winter months. Lucan is also very proud to say that San Jose Sharks, Logan Couture grew up in the community and in their beloved barn.
